Career in Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Working in obstetrics provides plenty of career opportunities and personal development within the medical profession, with opportunities both in surgical and medical. There are many different career paths you can take.

In this article, we’ll be examining a career in O&G, what job opportunities there are and why it might be a great choice for you.

What Obstetrics and Gynecology Involves

O&G is all about working in women’s health, a career that can be one of the most rewarding of all on a number of levels. Childbirth and maternity care plays a vital and pivotal role in the medical profession. When working with pregnant women and sensitive women’s issues, it can be very personal and positive relationships between the doctors and patients are developed along the way. Women not only require a medical expert during this major phase of their lives, but also someone they feel they can trust, rely on and confide in at all times. It’s like being a friend, personal consultant and medical expert all rolled into one.

Obstetrics Jobs and Opportunities

When it comes to jobs in O&G, specialists will be advising and treating women for any issues with the female reproductive system, along with support and care before, during and after pregnancy. A career in O&G can be very lucrative, as well as being extremely rewarding on both a professional and personal level.

Aside from starting out in O&G, with further training and experience you can aspire to other related roles in this section of healthcare, such as becoming a clinical lead or clinical director, and more.

There are many career paths you can take to advance your career (and the rewards that come with it) when you opt for a career in O&G. You could end up leading an entire team of O&G in a major Australian hospital.

If you have a passion for working with women’s issues, including pregnancy, are personable and understanding as well as clinical, then a career in O&G just might be the ultimate choice for you.

Finding a job role in the medical profession isn’t just about employment and earning an income. It’s about thriving in your position and making a difference in the lives of others.
